Blogging Anniversary!

Blogging Anniversary!

Six months ago today, I started my blogging journey.  WooHoo!

I am not a writer, so I think this is why God desires this from me.  I must totally be dependent on Him to accomplish a post each week – my goal, probably not His. Wednesdays with Word Washed Wife- I can't resist an alliteration!

There are many areas in life that I've got on lock-down, or so I falsely think, but not this area.  Word Washed Wife wouldn’t happen if it were not God’s plan.  I know I’m in over my head, but that is where spiritual growth happens!  So I am excited to be stepping out in faith in this way!  I have learned much about myself and the blogging world.  For starters I write best in yoga pants while eating chocolate- this could explain the additional 10 pounds and why I am still quite comfortable!  I've also discovered that I am addicted to run on sentences and I have no real idea where to put commas.  So, I use them, as decorations!  I also have realized I'm a bit wordy.  Sorry, I am definitely a work in progress!

I have loved sharing the truths on marriage with all of you! I am passionate about marriage and feel a burden to equip Christian couples with tools to strengthen their marriages.

This blog was not a single person task.  I have a number of people to thank:

First, I want to thank the Proverbs 31 woman whose blog I first read and thought, “Hey, what a great venue to reach busy people, people who are glued to their phone and people whom I may never meet, but who may yet need to be encouraged.”  So, thank you, sweet writer, for opening my eyes to this vehicle to share the gospel!

Second, I want to thank my sweet and patient husband.  Jody faithfully listens to my ideas, hears me read aloud as I write … because I am much more a speaker than a writer … and spends an hour or two each week proof reading my posts.  If truth be known, he sometimes spends more time proofing than I do writing the post.  He is as strong an advocate for Godly marriages, and my blog, as I am!  I am so thankful that God merged our lives together all those years ago in Jacksonville, Alabama!  I love being married to Jody!

Next, I want to thank my oldest son, JP.  He has worked countless hours providing me technical support – most of that time he was not exasperated and did not roll his eyes. 😊 Now, I must be transparent.  JP and I still had some “challenging” moments.  But how am I to know what he knows?!  I was born before the internet, cell phones or personal computers!  But I digress.  JP is at times my harshest critic, but I appreciate his brutal honesty and know that he loves me and believes in the mission of the blog.  Thank you son!  I love you!

Next, I want to thank a couple of cool Christian sisters – Jamie and Lauren!  They gave me the push I needed to get me out of my comfort zone.  And, they didn't laugh at me when I shared with them, “I think I would like to blog, but I don’t know how to start.  Do I need a license?  Do I need any special degree?”  These beautiful ladies are faithful friends, and I appreciate them for their support of me and the mission of promoting Godly marriages!  And thanks Jamie for video taping me for the blog as well!  You are the bomb!

I also want to give a big shout out to the rest of my family!  Maddy, James, Michael, Becky, Sarah, Mom, Dad and Pops- I love you all!  You have faithfully read and shared posts and have encouraged me along the way.  I have used all of you as “blog fodder.”  Nothing is changing in the future, so I trust you will all settle in for the long ride!

I truly love being connected to each and every one of you!  And, I think I am finally ready to increase that connection.  So, I am turning on the COMMENT SECTION of the blog site.  Before now, I was too scared to do this.  I was afraid that your critiques would crush my new adventure or my fledgling writing skills.  But now, I believe I can take it.  There are almost 2,000 of you who read Word Washed Wife, and I’d like to make it more of a dialogue.  Now don’t be surprised if I goof up the comment thing a bit.  But I will learn, with the help of my son -we will make it happen!  So, comment away – I’ve always got time to chat about Godly marriage!  And I would love to hear what you have to say on the subject du jour!

I also have a Facebook group, “Word Washed Wife.”  If you find Facebook to be more comfortable, I’d love to connect with you there.  So whether on the blog, or on Facebook, come join me as I continue to highlight ways to glorify God through marriage.

Finally, thank you for your faithful readership!  Thank you for your encouragement and kind comments on Facebook, at work, in the church bathroom, at Publix and while walking my dog!  You all make me strive to be a better writer, a more loving sister and hopefully a more yielded vessel for God’s use!

Keep reading, friend!

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment,  so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Philippians 1: 9-11
